I've never had occasion to contact Vassago. Did you have the triangle of manifestation in the proper quarter? I have noticed that the demons of the Goetia tend to be a little sarcastic at times, especially if they think the exorcist a little full of himself or not fully qualified. In any case, Vassago is of the good spirits as the book plainly says, so you need have little fear of him. I have also noticed that the spirits treat us with respect provide we are reasonable polite to them and respect their dignity. I have known some spirits to volunteer information or service freely if they are well-treated.
It is my belief that the spirits of the Goetia are not particularly evil, but well-disposed to mankind if they are not scorned, reviled or otherwise abused. Their bad reputation seems to come from the misunderstanding of Renaissence mages who unsure of the nature of the spirits they were negotiating with, simply assumed them to be evil. Still, it is wise to heed the advice not to offer bargains, sacrifices or gifts of any kind to them.
